1910-1920's 12 Drawer Military Cabinet Set of 9 Drawers, Brass Shannon Stamped Handles **SOLD**
Sorry, this item sold within 24 hours of putting it in my shop.
This is an outstanding piece and with it being a Shannon cabinet my bet is that it came over with the USA army, back in the day (1920's) It is a magnificent, well made piece of furniture that is both functiona and utilitarian, as well as being great on the eye... yep, it's a good looking piece - great patina, lovely panelling to the rides and the handles baring the name 'Shannon' are pretty much to die for (if you like your brass handles that is!). It's made complete of mahogany and I have stripped it back and waxed it to its former glory (it was coated with a military grey, almost floor or boat paint, that was meant to last!). It looks outstanding now, with each draw full of its own character. Please, look at the richness in colour of each drawer (it's quite superb), the mahogany is excellent (not like the rubbish, fast growing stuff of today) and I have tried to photograph the piece in shade and in direct sunlight - either way it looks so bloody wonderful!!! This old chap would make a welcome addition to many dwelling or bespoke shop or office - try finding another one and for me, with its dovetailed joints it can stand proud amongst any apothecary cabinets that would be much more in price.
Measurements: Heoght 80cm, Length 80cm and Depth 46cm. Each drawer is 23cm x 16cm.
